Air Cabin Crew Course
 
Introduction


This highly successful course was developed for students who wish to enter the airline industry as cabin crew. We have been running the course for long time and are proud of our record of students qualifying with us and as a result joining international airlines such as British Airways, Virgin Atlantic Airways. The airline industry is a demanding employer and the highest standards are expected of students. This includes appropriate dress and attitude.
The course leads to an international Diploma which includes the following qualifications:

•    Basic Sea Survival

•    Skin Care
•    Interview Techniques
•    Educational and Study Visits to Airlines and Airports(e.g. Gatwick airport)

Full use is made of Lowestoft college resources which include an aircraft mock cabin and the college commercial restaurants for food service. In addition, some training such as evacuation under fire and smoke conditions and safety equipment will take place at Gatwick airport.

Units studied on the course include

•    Respond to abnormal, dangerous/emergency situations
•    Contribute to servicing passenger’s needs and comfort
•    Contribute to effective team-working, working practices and communications
•    Maintain quality and customer care

Sponsorships
A limited number of sponsorships are available on merit basis.
Assessment


The standard of your work will be assessed in a number of ways which include

•    Written examination
•    Course work
•    Practical assignments
•    Research project


Entry Requirements


Acceptance will be dependent upon candidates successfully completing an interview.
To be able to qualify for the course you must also be:

•     Of a good educational standard
•     Motivated to learn
•     Aged 17, must be aged 18 on completion
•     Of average height and build (most airlines require a minimum height of 5'2")
•     Physically fit
•     Motivated
•     Well presented
•     Able to work under pressure
•     A team player
•     A good communicator
•     Enthusiastic
•     Able to swim – or be prepared to learn
•     IELTS Score of at least 5.5 (if your score is below this you can enrol on a pre course English program)



Uniform Standards


Students must maintain a uniform appearance at all times. The tutor will inform students of the mode of the dress for the day, i.e. one jacket off, all jackets off.

It is important to remember that when wearing the uniform you are representing Lowestoft College. Therefore you must at all times dress and behave appropriately.

Females: blue suit – jacket and knee length skirt, white short-sleeved shirt, plain navy court shoes with low heel, flesh coloured tights.

For males; blue two-piece suit, white short-sleeved shirt, plain black classic style shoes, black socks. You will be expected to supply these clothes at your own expense.

Welfare and student accommodation


The college has a full-time overseas consultant as well as a Student Activities Co-ordinator, who deals with all aspects of cultural and social visits. Students have free of charge access to the Internet and free e-mail facilities. Students are registered with doctors through the College.


Accommodation

Students have a choice of accommodation when attending the college. We strongly recommend the use of college inspected and approved home-stay accommodation. Local English host families are carefully chosen for the standard of rooms and their commitment to the student experience.

All staff is experienced teachers with industrial experience of either the travel, hospitality and airline industries.

Accommodation costs are based on a single room with a college approved host family, on a half-board basis at £90 per student per week. We will only ask you for one month’s accommodation fee in the first instance. You are welcome to move to self-catering accommodation if you wish.
